I held off for a while though other friends and even my local rink got a Sparx Sharpener (v1 or v2), but once the v3 came out & the price dropped on v2, I couldn't hold off any longer. The v2 is easy to setup (thanks to online videos to show how it's done) and so convenient! I no longer have to wait until my edges are so dull - usually during a game - that I have to take them for a sharpening immediately... I can do a quick 2-pass every other week & know I'll have good edges on my game skates and every few weeks on my coaching skates. With both my kids also playing hockey, the sharpener is bound to eventually pay for itself - especially with costs at local rinks going up (and most of those are using a Sparx anyway). I plan to take along for tournaments in case my kid's teammates might also need a touch-up & the whole team will be good-to go!
